ATTENTION

Those engrossed in Quoi desire attention. Whether or not this is a human trait or one of those in Quoi is unknown at this time, so I will only discuss it as a trait unique to Quoiians.

Quoiians love attention and fall into depression without it. This falls into line with my throry on Quoiian nature as well...Quoiians need to be either a part of a group (being accepted) or need to be distinct (stand out in the crowd). Both of these suggest that Quoiians need to be seen, even if being seen makes them give up their own identity.

People do odd and crazy things becaus they want attention. They shout, say stupid things, break the law, etc to be noticed. Also, when someone else gets attention in a group, the others become sad and may try to draw attention back upon themselves. They become desperate and will do almost anything for the attention that they long for. This leads people to gloat, be arrogant, bring up subjects tha they know a great deal about, or make comments on the subject at hand, even if they know nothing about it. This can be either something that I call "instantaneous loneliness" or something rooted deeper which runs through their life constantly.

People who do not do the above things, for there are some who do not, feel left out or detatched. They look on with envy and long to be able to talk like others or to be like others, but they don't have enough strength to do so. These people either convert so that they can join the group or they convert to an anti-group group to be accepted.

There is a third group, although it is very small. These people don't care if some people don't give them attention, though, usually, they get enough attention elsewhere and don't NEED any more. These people run in different degrees, most of them being in the lesser degree. There are few people (none that I have encountered on my travels) who don't need any sort of attention whatsoever.

Now, what would it be like to not desire attention at all? To either be content with the amount given at present time or not requiring any at all. This would end the anxiety of needing to be accepted or needing people to see them. It would bring out who people really are. When people need attention, they make act like someone else, whether in the form of being silly, violent, stupid, smart, or anything else. But when one does not require attention, one's true colors would come out and they could be their true selves. Their base personality would come out. People wouldn't convert themselves into something else just to be accepted. This would end small groups and anti-group groups and people would be themselves. They would be happy because of the law of happiness.

When some people search for mates in life, they sometimes do so because they need the attention that is given by having someone close to them. Without a search for attention, people would search out a mate because they want to be in love and want someone to be in love with them.

I have tried to think of reasons as to why this need of attention would be good, but I can't find any. I can't see a reason as to why, if it were taken away, the human would be injured. I suppose I should put this question into the discussion board, right?
